Week 18 Hegsted Mission

Image
20-November-2022-Sunday Rather nondescript day.  We made the drive to Rutland to attend church.  After washing the car yesterday, I was dismayed to find it snowed from Bethel to Rutland and thus the roads were wet with salt water used to salt the roads.   My black car is now white.  I played the organ again, then taught Sunday school, while Dede taught in primary.  After church we practiced a musical number for the lighting ceremony on Friday with two families from the Rutland Branch.  They have wonderful voices and it will be good.  It amazed me how much easier it is to play on a piano with weighted keys rather than a keyboard with organ like keys.  As much as I play the organ I should be used to it, but it is just different with runs instead of chords that I play when I play hymns.  Regardless, I would be ungrateful not to point out that God was answering my prayers that I would be able to play for the practice. On the way home since...

Week 17 - Hegsted Mission

13-November-2022-Sunday What an interesting day.  Our President Ewer spent the night in the hospital Saturday after suffering from severe cramping.  Elder Buswell took him to the hospital yesterday and then we came for our shift, Sister Buswell took Sister Ewer to the Hospital to be with him.  It was a stressful day for all four.  We came home early from Rutland, so we could open the site at 1 pm as Buswell's were with Ewers.  They were able to bring Ewers home before 3 pm, so we only worked our short shift.  We had 6 people (I do not think anyone came after this.). Two were young woman from the Vermont Law School in S. Royalton.  They wanted just a short tour so I broke off and took care of them.  I think they were surprised that we had people stationed at the site, but were gracious in listening to a short tour.  Meanwhile Dede was working with a family of four from Brooklyn who had come up for the 3 day holiday.  They were deli...

6-November-2022-Sunday Two weeks in a row we were in the Rutland Branch.  That was nice and with the change of opening the site at 1 pm, we should be able to go even more often.  I played the organ and taught Sunday school to the youth, while Dede was in Primary.  I am very rusty on the organ, but glad to play again.  I hope if I get there early enough each week, it will begin to come back.  I really was not prepared for Sunday school.  I will not let that happen again. We opened the site at 1 pm and had several visitors come through, including Brother Berger's sister and husband.  Fun to have someone from the mission with family.  They wanted to spend as much time as possible so we gave them the full tour.  Midway, Dede had to switch off to another family.  We then had several locals show up for a few minutes each.  Overall a good day. Afterwards we talked to President Ewer and found out we were in the wrong place for ...
