Week 22 - Hegsted's Mission

18-December-2022-Sunday While we had power again today at 9:17 pm  [after losing it last night about midnight], the Wilcox's  obtained power tonight about 5:22 pm today.  Thus they were out about 48 hours.  The Buswells did not have power at 6 pm when Dede and I headed home from the site.  We have invited them to spend the night with us.  We have a spare bedroom so it will work for us as we share bathrooms etc. with our friends. It was so beautiful driving to Rutland this morning. In Killington, the trees were still buried in snow and it was good to see skiers and boarders on Pico Mountain.  Probably not ideal snow, but snow before Christmas.  We had such fun in Sacrament Meeting.  President Shelton had invited ward members to choose a favorite Christmas Hymn, come forward like a testimony meeting and tell why it is a favorite and then we sang at least one verse of the hymn.  It was so fun to be on the organ and play hymns for 40 ...

11-Decmber-2022-Sunday The trip to Rutland for church was uneventful, but it began to snow during church and so the roads back were somewhat dicey.  I am guessing the people who own the ski resorts in Killington were rejoicing to get even the little that was received and to have it cold enough to create snow.  It is apparent that they have been creating snow on the runs so it would not take much more snow to be able to open. I played the organ and then got to play piano in primary for Dede as she led singing.  She is so fun and the kids sang and sang and were glued on to Dede.  She is a song and a dance or a dog and pony show in motion, but she knows how to keep the attention of children.  I loved playing for her.  Next week in Sacrament Meeting, President Shelton will ask people to say why they love a particular Christmas Hymn and then we get to sing the hymn.  This will be great fun for me on the organ.  I do love playing Christmas Hymns....

4-December-2022-Sunday A new week and new opportunities.  The drive to Rutland was pleasant.  The sun was shining and the White River after our recent rains was running fuller than we have seen all summer, but had cleared up and was no longer muddy.  Going to the Killington area is spectacular.  However, it was about 31F and they need snow badly.  They were making snow at Pico resort, but it they were making it on bare grass and not getting ahead on the job. I played the organ and taught youth Sunday school.  That is getting better, but I still need to do more to get closer to meeting the needs of these youth.  Large age range which makes it harder.  Also, they seem to lack many of the basics I would expect youth to know.  Maybe I am just getting too old. Dede was in primary and glory hallelujah she gets to lead primary music for the next 4 weeks.  She is so excited.  I hope I get to play once or twice.  I think e...
